How this estimate works

Pressure and IR temperature are treated as two independent heat signals. The calculator does not attempt to convert tread temperature into carcass temperature.

The internal-air estimate uses the ideal gas relationship with gauge pressure converted to absolute pressure. It assumes tire volume is approximately constant and that the starting tire temperature was near the entered ambient temperature.

T₂ = T₁ × (P₂ + 14.7) / (P₁ + 14.7)

Temperatures are converted to an absolute scale for the calculation. The result estimates the temperature of the contained air, not the hottest rubber, belt, bead, or carcass temperature.

The NORMAL / ELEVATED / HIGH indicator is an experimental heuristic combining pressure-rise percentage, IR rise above ambient, and prolonged high-speed exposure. It is deliberately a risk indicator rather than a claimed tire-damage threshold.

Use this calculator to compare pressure rise, estimated internal-air heating, IR surface temperature, and operating exposure. The result is a thermal-load indication rather than a claimed carcass temperature or failure threshold.
